Low Carbon Hydrogen
Most of the current hydrogen production involves steam methane reforming (SMR) of non-renewable natural gas. The flue gas from the SMR process contains about 9 kg of CO2/kg of H2. By combining various InnoSepra CO2 capture technologies, InnoSepra can reduce the carbon intensity of SMR based hydrogen production to below 0.4 kg CO2/kg H2. This can enable SMR based hydrogen production to have a carbon intensity equivalent to or lower than electrolytically produced hydrogen utilizing renewable power. Various InnoSepra technologies used in this application have been demonstrated either at the pilot scale or at the commercial scale.
Oil & Gas
One of the main applications of CO2 captured from various sources is the utilization in EOR applications. A significant portion of pressurized CO2 injected into oil formations is returned and is processed prior to the reinjection. This step is very energy intensive. InnoSepra has developed a technology for processing CO2 returning from oil fields which requires at least 40% lower energy than currently utilized technologies. This can make the utilization of CO2 in EOR applications less carbon intensive.
Other Industrial Sources
CO2 capture from industrial sources such as cement, and iron & steel requires removal of pollutants that include NOx, SOx, mercury, and heavy metals. InnoSepra's flue gas purification technology, coupled with InnoSepra's CO2 capture technologies can provide cost effective removal of pollutants and capture of CO2 in these applications. These InnoSepra technologies can also be used for power generation utilizing biomass (bioenergy with CCS).

Biomass Conversion
Various biomass sources such as forest residues, municipal waste, and agricultural waste can be converted to biofuels by various means, such as pyrolysis, steam gasification, and partial oxidation. The gas stream produced these processes contains a significant amount of impurities as well as carbon dioxide. InnoSepra’s technologies for flue gas purification as well as carbon dioxide capture, can significantly reduce the amount of impurities as well as carbon dioxide in the feed to downstream processes. This can significantly improve the conversion of syngas to biofuels or hydrogen.
Pollutants Control
Removal of impurities such as SOX, NO2, mercury, siloxanes, heavy hydrocarbons, and hydrogen sulfide is integral part of InnoSepra’s carbon capture/removal technologies. These technologies can be used on a standalone basis for reducing the emission of pollutants from various industrial processes such as coal and natural gas based power production and production of cement and steel. These technologies can be applied to plants that have existing pollution control equipment to increase the removal efficiency of various pollutants, as well as to plants that do not have any pollutant control equipment.
